Oscars Red Carpet 2012: Peplums, Parties & Pitt

That’s a wrap! The 84th Academy Awards aired this weekend rounding off another exciting award season. Pitt’s leading lady bared some serious leg, and J. Lo came close to a “wardrobe malfunction”  but being THE show to be seen at (and nominated for), celebrities are dressed to the nines and dripping in jewels and so once again we had high expectations.

We had tried to make predictions on what would be worn, who would impress and who would disappoint, but in true star fashion there were tricks up their sleeves and we realized these things are best left as a surprise.

The academy honours the finest in film, we honour the finest in fashion.
And the oscar(s) go to…

1) Emma Stone-Our obsession with this stone cold fox is no secret, she has won the red carpet season prize by a landslide. Many have turned their nose up at this Giambattista Valli but we think it was one of her best to date.
2) Tina Fey-Not one to usually catch our eye, Fey didn’t joke around with this choice. We loved how classic and elegant she looked in this dark navy Carolina Herrera.
3) Michelle Williams-A usually understated Williams wowed in this coral peplum Louis Vuitton. It was just enough colour and flare to be noticed, while staying true to her more conservative style.

The carpet may be red but the ladies were definitely white hot! The trend at this year’s Oscars was undoubtedly white and we agree that every single one looked stunning. White may typically be seen as bridal, or for the warmer months but when you look as glamourous as this the rules never apply.

Alas, award season may be over and we admit we’re going through a bit of withdrawal but with spring around the corner there’s plenty of fashion to come!

Your fashion fairies,

M & R
