This past Sunday we watched as movie and television stars alike were honoured for their work by the Hollywood Foreign Press at the 69th Golden Globe Awards. The Golden Globes are generally the less stuffy of these events with an always hilarious Ricky Gervais poking fun at Hollywood’s elite and celebrities mingling and drinking amongst old friends and colleagues. The dress attire however, not so relaxed, with many looking to make the best dressed list. After many red carpet disappointments last year we were thrilled to be overwhelmed this year by many glamourous choices.
After much debate, here are our picks for best dressed of the evening.
Emma Stone in a plum Lanvin gown. Stone can do no wrong in our books it seems and this time was no exception. In more of a simple silhouette, it was by no means boring, the two-tones and belt made this our absolute favourite.
Reese Witherspoon looked radiant in a bright red Zac Posen. Light on the accessories but heavy on the bridal glow, Reese always knows how to dress her body and the colour choice made this another easy pick for us.
Charlize Theron in Dior couture. A perfect combination of high impact and class, this may have been the most dramatic outfit of the evening. The flapper-esque headband was the icing on the cake-we were totally in love.
With most red carpets there tends to be popular themes, be it sparkles, colour or lace; green and nude were the themes of the night. Nude tones are always popular but this night in particular we found it to be an overwhelming choice worn by Charlize Theron, Kate Beckinsale, Julie Bonen, Amy Poehler, Elle Macpherson, Heidi Klum and Jessica Biel (sans engagement ring!)
Talk about green with envy, the second popular trend to walk the carpet were dresses and accessories in a variety of green shades. This surprising but welcomed choice was sported by Laura Dern, Evan Rachel Wood, Zooey Deschanel, Debra Messing, Lea Michele, Julianne Moore, Kelly MacDonald, Madonna and Melissa McCarthy.
