This past Wednesday, Betsy Leimbigler, a contestant for Miss Universe Canada, hosted a charity event for SOS Children’s Village. The aim was to support Betsy in her quest to raise awareness and support for the charity. The night was hosted by Alison Hughes at AMH Style and emceed by the popular and stylish Ottawa fashionista Erica Wark. Not that we need any excuses to go see a fashion show, but combining it with a charity event is the icing on the cake for us. The big surprise of the night was seeing Alison there, on her due date! The night was packed full of fabulous fashion shows, unique jewellery displays and yummy treats!
Emilia Torabi started the evening with a runway full of beautifully tailored, business inspired clothing. Next, Jana Hanzel showed off her modern and sophisticated “cocktail hour” pieces. Both collections included some interesting and intricate head pieces -a huge trend since the Royal Wedding!- Both collections were fantastic. After this, I’m even more excited to see their designs next week at the Tabitha Charity event.
Also present were several Canadian jewellery designers. Pish Posh, Pica, Leah Christina and Mafia jewellery all had their own display stands and showcased their work in individual catwalks. These local jewellery designers had something for everyone from simple, sophisticated basics to feather earrings and brass knuckles!
The night was a complete success! They raised over $500 for charity, we enjoyed great fashion, devoured some cupcakes and snuck in some shopping (R)!
Can’t think of a better way to spend a summer evening!
Awaiting the next runway,
