Grammy Awards 2011 Red Carpet Review: Some high notes but mostly fell flat

“What is she wearing?!” “He showed up with HER?”

If you’re anything like us, the only thing that gets you through the dreary grey Canadian winter is award season. Every year with every show the anticipation of who shows up in what is almost as exciting as the actual awards-okay, who are we kidding, it’s the only reason we watch them.

Although we got off to a late start and missed covering the Golden Globes and SAG awards, we couldn’t miss the Grammys; one of our favorites for the fabulous musical collaborations, (Aretha tribute anyone?) performances and the anything-but-safe fashion choices. This year’s awards were a bit disappointing to us on the fashion front; nothing too daring, nothing too dazzling. Considering the colours and prints this season, we found overall that the looks were less than encore-worthy.

However, a few here and there managed to catch our eye so here is a list of our personal faves. Also shown, the honourable shout-outs and the “no they didnt’s”.

Keep your eye out for a later post, where we plan to pull together some red carpet looks without the red carpet price.
